In order to live life full of satisfaction, it's not just important to look after you mental health, but it's critical. Just as important as physical health, your mental health has a significant role in your life and shouldn't be underestimated. Therefore, on researching into the Wim Hofmethod,
I was particularly interested in his thoughts about caring for your mental health, both in general and with the use of the Wim Hof method. Therefore, this video will be focused on what you can do to care for your mental health and how the Wim Hof method can aid you. Most people suffer from mental health issues at some point in their lives, and what's important to understand is you can improve your mental health yourself just as you would your physical health. It is important that you don’t procrastinate and start working on it right away.
There are a lot of natural ways to improve your mental health. Now to clarify, this doesn't mean to not seek help if necessary, as sometimes it is vital to get help, but fundamentally lifestyle choices play a huge role in our mental health. Your mental health can be determined as your over all psychological well-being and he importance of looking after your mental health can’t be stressed enough, because it will impact how you feel about yourself and others.
Unfortunately a lot of people across the world struggle with mental health issues and this can lead to less resilience and enjoyment in life. It's nothing to be ashamed of and completely normal, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take action to try and improve it. Later in the video we will also discuss the benefits of using the Wim Hof method, so be sure to watch until the end. So, if you struggle with mental health issues,
what should you take into consideration?
Value Yourself It's amazing to think how hard people are on themselves, and in so many cases they don't even realize it. I'm guilty of this as much as anyone, as I came to understand after speaking to others and thinking about how they perceive me. The thing is, while most of us will easily put ourselves down, we wouldn't even consider this behavior with others.
So why is it we're so hard on ourselves?
Instead, be proud of what you have accomplished and think positively of yourself, as having a positive image of yourself has a very powerful effect on how you feel. If there's something you want to change about yourself, it's not that you shouldn't change, but rather you should trust yourself to take the necessary action to change. Focus One of the reasons we struggle with mental health issues, especially anxiety, is that we're constantly bombarded with information in life and for many of us we're constantly trying to multitask or do too many things at once, especially with the distractions the Internet has in our lives today. Try to avoid multitasking and instead focus on what is really important in the moment.
If you find that your mind starts to wander, identify that you're beginning to procrastinate and resift focus back to your main task. Doing this will go a long way in not just feeling less overwhelmed, but on completing tasks you'll get a dopaminergic response that will make you feel better.
Exercise I really can't stress how important exercise is in life, and it doesn't have to mean getting an athletes level of fitness, as even something as simple as walking can go a huge way. In this sense, it's important to understand that mind and body are intrinsically linked and therefore exercise directly influences your mental health. You see, when you exercise your body creates endorphin, which is a stress-reducing and mood-boosting hormone. With the positive boost in mood, it's why exercising is such a powerful tool to improve mental health. Start adding exercises in your daily routine.
So start small if necessary, but get started and just move about during the day. Eat WellDiet plays a vital role in mental health, something I've covered on the channel in the past a few times, and so it's really important to eat a healthy and well maintained diet. This doesn't mean you can't treat yourself once in a while, but rather eating less healthy foods in limited quantity and increasing healthier meals and snacks. One thing that helps is to try and eat foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, notably fatty fish or various types of seeds and kidney beans. There is evidence suggesting omega 3 can help mental health, notably due to it's anti-inflammatory effects.
Get Sleep Sleep is a fundamental part of our health and general wellness and it's important to get a reasonable amount of sleep of the best quality you can. It is recommended to get 7 to 9 hours of sleeper day and try to sleep in a dark and silent room to prepare yourself for the best quality sleep. Sleep deprivation is conducive to a bad mood and can have terrible effects on your mental health. Do The Wim Hof Method As well as following the previous tips, the Wim Hof method can benefit you in many ways to help improve your mental health.
This is because the method helps you to increase mental resilience, which allows you to better deal with daily stressors, in effect making you mentally stronger. In addition to this it also increase your focus, concentration and willpower, all of which are important factors for good mental health.
Cold therapy can improve the quality of your sleep and your body will produce endorphins that elevate your mood when you follow through with the process. It's not just cold therapy though, as the breathing techniques you can reduce stress levels and gain more energy throughout the day, similar to what's been found when doing Pranayama in Yoga. Therefore, follow the tips and practice the Wim Hof method, as the benefits together will help you in your daily life and in your mental health.
